Partial Solar Eclipse in Cancer 2018

The summer solstice is behind us and the world continues to watch how families are being torn apart and welded together. As I wrote in my December 2017 blog of prophecies for 2018, “As everyone prepares to shuffle family and financial states, the world as we had known it has dramatically changed.” Now, the world, especially United States, may be opened to a new era of emotions and family structure as the U.S is known as the sign of Cancer.

Though many may not consider this eclipse as strong as the ones to follow, in VPAT (Vedic Philosophical Ayurvedic Theory) this is just as significant as the August 2018 eclipse. This eclipse journeys into the sign of Cancer, where home, mother, and emotions are placed.

One of the most positive things to take away from this eclipse is not only is it a partial solar eclipse, but also a new moon. Therefore, the effects may not be as dramatic and it could also bring with it some positive manifestations. Also, since the eclipse is NOT visible in the United States, it may bring some personal transformations. However, one of the most unique things is that it by the time the eclipse moves away it will be Friday the 13th and glorified with a micro super new moon.

Contrasting most total eclipses, this eclipse will gleam only in a solitary zone of the hemisphere and it won’t be viewed by many. Those that will have an advantage will have to be in or visit the coast of Melbourne or southern parts of Australia, Pacific, or Indian Oceans. Moreover, the shape of the darkened sky will seem as though its shaped as a half moon.

On July 12, 2018 at approximately 9:48 pm EST and 6:48 PST the partial eclipse will begin its voyage to the first point in southern Australia and continue to move downwards toward Antarctica, while the new moon in Cancer will void the sky at 10:48pm EST and 7:48pm PST in other parts of the world. Within 2 to 3 minutes the eclipse will be at its maximum, thus within an hour it will be over.

The solar eclipse will be at the same degrees as the moon in Cancer, 20-24 degrees, once again residing in Cancer/Capricorn. The reason for “once again” is my notion that everything transforms and everything has a history which always repeats. Look back at your life from July 2009 through July 2011. Those whom I have encouraged to keep a journal will know exactly what happened to them. Those unresolved family issues are now being re-visited.

However, this eclipse is powerful enough to not only effect Cancers, and those that have Cancer in their VPAT chart, but also all Cardinal signs (Libra, Aries and Capricorn) as well as Pisces and Scorpio as their primary planets are in water signs. But also remember that ascendants and nodes count during the eclipse. Hence, do not confuse VPAT for astrology as it will be later explained why.

This eclipse can be a little less dynamic than the energy felt during the July 11, 2010 eclipse (read about it here). During that eclipse the world was riddled with violence and the Afghan war was on center stage. Though I don’t like to predict negatives, realistically, I would not be surprised if possible violence could rise suddenly. This could include those with high stature being brought down to ground level, and continued defamation of character may continue. We could even hear about injuries to faces and eyes, and people may seem stubborn with ideologies.

Although in the western philosophies it is said that the eclipse is in Cancer, VPAT considers the moon to be transiting in Gemini with a little help from the sun. It may sound confusing but rest assured, this will be great for those who are Aries, Leo, Virgo, and Capricorn. Even though the eclipse is not triggered for Taurus, Libra, Sagittarius, or Aquarius, they too will feel some positive energy.

Choices in areas of interpersonal relationships might influence controversial topics and things may reach a point of full disclosure. There is also an opportunity for new relationships, but watch yourself as the next eclipse could quickly end it. Therefore, feed, nurture, respect, and have gratitude.
The Cancer eclipse will naturally draw fostering and kind drives. Collaboration, cooperation, and group think regarding finances or resources will be good, while linking ranks and finances could be sorted out with good results.

On the other hand, don’t get too excited since Rahu will continue to be in the sign of Cancer and Ketu will be in Capricorn until the spring of 2019; therefore, water signs, including Gemini’s, could go through some trivial issues.

Solar vitality is marginal, self-protective, shielding, and energetic; all of which is reproduced and articulated from inside the soul. The energy is predominantly inspiring and driven. Morals and courage can be enhanced and strengthened. Trust the renovation and believe in our aid in the world and the full expression of our humanity.

According to VPAT studies, this effect can last up to 6 months, but depending upon the placement, scriptures conclude that the partial eclipse could be as short as 4 months depending upon how powerful the moon’s impact is.

Nevertheless, do not expect to have things happen as planned, they may shock you and could even be related to the entire world as they will impact leaders, families, and politics, including countries and continents. Sadly, 7-10 days before the actual eclipse there could be conflicts around the world. Due to Mercury retrograde (which will cause confusion) and the eclipse in Cancer (a whole lot of emotions), it is possible that these conflicts may not be resolved until the August eclipse.

Perhaps we may find that a leader of a larger country is furious and rebellious, and their power and connections could cause other leaders to dispute one another. I would not be surprised if negative media coverage continues to hover over the President of the United States and there could be some marital issues between him and his wife. There could also be some media coverage about Virgo powerful personalities which could cause them to be very emotional and so upset about something that he/she may start their own movement. But most definitely issues of children, families and emotions will be hitting the headlines.The energy will be felt approximately 10 days before New Moon, known as the GLOOMY MOON, and could cause a lethargic and sluggish period. This is because we may not know how or when to begin things.

The Cancer moon can convey care, sentiments, empathetic feelings, and maudlin issues in our lives; including being melancholy over maternal tenderness. Our emotions spin in a heartbeat and if disturbed, can cause one to become very touchy! There may be many times in the next 6 months where we just want to be left alone to dream and think. Elder advice may be sought more than ever and wanting to spend time with family will be embraced.

Since the moon rules Cancer, lunar influences are toughest and most readily expressed when fixated through this sign. The moon significantly effects manners, intuition, and feelings, while shaping instinctive actions. When the moon is in Cancer, it creates nervous excitement and boundless consideration of people, whereas their reaction will be purposeful rather than emotional.

Normally, people will be defensive, tolerant, overemotional, friendly, and fostering. Regrettably, if maternal connection is not present there may be outlets through obsessive behavior such as food, alcohol, spending, or other things that may not be good for one’s health emotions.

This is the first of the 3 eclipses this summer. Normally they come in pairs, however, now that Aquarius is ending their cycle with the next eclipse (July 27) and Leo will soon end theirs, it is imperative to understand that something is bound to change.

What I am about to present to you are general VPAT tendencies, not to be confused with Western Astrology or Vedic Astrology. These inferences are driven through the elemental placement alignment within the teachings of Vedic Philosophical Ayurvedic Theories.

Since this is a beginning of the Cancer eclipse cycle, I would highly suggest a focus on spiritual baths, mantras, poojas, fasting, and other things which will bring you closer to the Devine.
The predispositions are markers only, and general tendencies. As we move through the next two eclipses the tendencies will even be more defined as I will discuss Saturn, Rahu, Ketu and other placements which will set the tone for the next 6 months at the last eclipse on August 11, 2018.

I will begin with the three prominent named tags (astrological signs) which will be affected by this eclipse the most. Then I will progress to the ones that may experience less effect, and so on.

Cancer, Capricorn, and Gemini

Dear Cancers, this is the first of four strong eclipses that will transform your life like no other. However, if you can recall anything that happened to you from 2009 through 2010, you will see that history is repeating itself. This is because the higher power is now observing what you have learned, what you must still learn, and what needs to change. But Mercury retrograde will not be easy for you either as it will cause crazy energy for you until September 1, 2018. Keep in mind that Rahu (invisible lord/planet of past life karma) stays in a sign for at least 2.5 years; this could be bad or good depending on how you handle your life. It began its journey into Cancer in 2017 and will remain there until 2019. Thus, all those that have Cancer as sun/moon or primary planets in Cancer will be affected. It seems that just when the eclipses leave so does Rahu, and at the end of the day you will know exactly where you want to go and make amends. But don’t think that just because you are not a Cancer you are not affected. Many people have Capricorn in their chart if they are a Sun Sign Cancer. However, with Pluto (God of Underworld) in Capricorn, as well as Ketu, Pluto will continue to make a transformation in areas of authority, government, and politics. Ketu (also an invisible planet of the afterlife) will aspect how karma and life balances and how they will play out in the next world. This eclipse will also touch upon Gemini’s, perhaps not as intensely but it will impact them. The difference here is Gemini’s are continually changing due to Mercury and therefore, their travesties are 3 times a year unlike others. This is because Gemini’s continued spirited, fidgety, and worried nature continues to put them in difficult situations where they have their high highs and low lows. Hopefully, with this eclipse they can understand that if you have faith in yourself you can be very successful in all areas.

Critical Transformation Signs

Cancer: Welcome to your first eclipse of transformation. Don’t forget to have a hard look at all that occurred during 2009-2011, and make sure you don’t repeat the past. Don’t expect all to be well; actually, you should expect the unexpected, but it will be thought-provoking. The universe is now giving you an opportunity to transform your life especially in areas of well-being, joy, outlook, conduct, status, visions, and wants. You will be blessed by the universe as you continue to receive markers showing what is needed to restructure yourself and how career and other parts of your life will be blessed by trying something new. But be extra careful with any injuries with respect to your head, hair, diabetes, nose bleeds, and others caused by simple carelessness. You will have some blessings from the universe. Make it happen and make it yours.

Capricorn: You will begin your true transformation next year but this is pivotal for you as you begin to plant the seeds of change. Every single interpersonal relationship will undergo a transformation like no other. Remember, the universe always looks after its children, therefore, if people in your life mean well and support you, then you will reap the rewards of bliss. However, any relationships which cause you heartache will end as you will be blessed with looking at life in a whole new prospective. Also affected could be business, legal, and other partnerships. Be cautious regarding illnesses of arthritis, stomach pain, and urinary issues. Keep in mind that Goddess of Love is looking over you and it’s time to sweep the floor and discard debris.

Gemini: No one understand what you go through three times a year with mercury retrograde, and this year has been so busy for you that you have forgotten your friends. Hence, you may have more important issues to think about. You may not have budgeted your finances as well as you should have and now the universe wants you to look at your weaknesses by bringing forth unexpected expenses. Be extra careful regarding your finances right now, and for a while, as things in your career or job may unexpectedly go through catastrophic change. If you decide to look for another position, this is the best time. Though you hate to do this, it’s time to move past it and transform yourself. Whether it’s positive or negative change, the stress of it all always makes you weak. Therefore, be careful with what you say, be cautious as you may go through some vision issues and all organs related to the face, and I would not be surprised if you get a right ear infection or a cold because of your stress and unnecessary worries.

Aquarius, Leo, Sagittarius

Dearest Aquarius, hold on to this energy and ride out the emotions. You have been going through transformations, one after the other. Your journey began in 2016, and you also need to look back at your past (especially 2009 through 2011) and look at where you are today. The beautiful Lunar eclipse will defiantly end something in your life, however, the most important concept is for you to understand your first eclipse 2016 and July 2018 eclipse and find a middle ground. At the end of the day you will be ready for some major changes. At least you can sigh the sigh of relief because your brother Leo has little way to go. Leo’s are not only riding out Saturn in Sagittarius, but the Aug 11 eclipse should also bring some pleasure to their lives. Leo’s now take a hard look at their career and standing, and find out where they want to go and how; they should be certain at least by the August eclipse. Nevertheless, Shani (Saturn, planet of Lessons) has been in Sagittarius and will continue to remain there for a little while; peeling Sagittarius’s old skin and bringing about a new one. This is not an easy aspect as it effects all fire signs; all those that have Sagittarius in their personal sign as well as mutable signs. Even though it is in retrograde until September 2018, the transit will not really move away from Sagittarius until 2020 when it’s running to Capricorn where it feels the most comfort. Therefore, Aquarius, Leo, and Sagittarius, this is not about change, it is about getting the ground ready to plant.

Secondary Transformations

Aquarius: In two weeks you can say, “how do you like me now?” this is the last eclipse for you for the next 8 years. Whatever ends in August is dust to dust and it’s time to move on. Career conflicts and battles are on the horizon. Expect changes in your work environment and if you are looking for another career or employment process, this is not the time. But disruptions are everywhere for you, as you may also have some issues with interpersonal relationships. Be careful not to bite off more than you can chew. Barriers are present in all aspects of your life. This is often referred to as moksha which means that all things internal and external must change and you must go back to the past yet live in the present in order to plan. But do not be careless as chronic illnesses may pop up and there is the possibility of issues for organs below and around the pelvic bones.

Leo: One more eclipse and you are home free. But at least during eclipses you had a little help. Hence you were pulled from all directions, by Saturn on one side and eclipses on the other. I promise you, it’s almost over. You will now reconsider and organize your life while considering and contemplating your own enlightenment and how much you have accomplished in this lifetime. It’s time to look at yourself and how you are perceived by other people but do it for yourself because you may revert, and this is not a time to go back. Saturn in Sagittarius is continuing to make changes in who you are and the lessons you must learn but remember, whatever conclusion you come to is OK because the August 11 eclipse will bring presents to your door. In the meantime, take care of your feet and your immune system as the stress always has been your downfall.

Sagittarius: Right now, Saturn may not be pounding you as much but surely it does continue to force you to go back and look at your past actions and how you will correct them. Mercury does not make it easier for your either. You will be bound to go into a lot of introspective and you may decide that you would like to change your life for the better. However, it does not come easy for you as you may become a hermit for a while. You may also be focusing on financial issues. Perhaps you and Aquarius’s should sit down and exchange notes. Every aspect of your faith may be recalled and you may lose faith altogether when under pressure. Pamper and take care of yourself as female/male organs may have issues such as a bladder infections or inflammation, and you may be lethargic. If you are in a relationship you may be focusing a lot on your partners financial, legal, or tax issues.

Aries and Taurus

Dear Aries, you may be breathing a gasp of air as Uranus has finally left your sign where things just continue to cause chaos in your life. However, now, and for the next two years, be prepared to learn lessons from Saturn in Sagittarius. Make amends with people whom you have hurt as every eclipse will touch you in one way or another. Unlike Taurus, who just got shook up by Uranus entering their lives, now it’s time to restructure and reconsider what needs to be changed in areas of finances, career, and reputation. Taurus believes in the concept of reputation but they know where the money is yet sometimes they tend to spend it on items they do not need. Now it is time to reconsider how we spend it and what we need to do to get what we want without going broke. This will be a remarkable change for the next 8 years.

Minor transformation Shifts

Aries: Though Uranus is out of your life, consider what you have learned and consider what Saturn is teaching you. What responsibilities have you failed? Remember, this eclipse is about considering your own actions and how they affect others. You will now find family and friends are more volatile because they too are going through their own changes and it’s not always about you. Consider the source. Younger generations, whether they be your children or step children, will now have a voice and they will tell you what they feel. You may have your share of own financial issues as unpredictable maintenance may be needed in your home. This is the time of your ATMA: where is your life and where is it going? Often, when you do not have peace, groin issues usually come up so be extra cautious with your pelvic area.

Taurus: Uranus is here with you, holding your hand for the long haul. What will you do with all this power? The problem is you want consistency. This is not natural to you and you can’t brush things off like a Scorpio. Expect conflicts within the family and this is all because of decisions that must be made. If you get angry enough at any one thing, you will find that your phone is broken for some odd reason; this is the universe’s way of telling you to calm down. You may have difficulties with expressing yourself and because of this you may lose your patients with others. The stressers of difficulty and worries in communication will surely bring some minor colds, and pains to shoulders and the neck, especially the prominent one (right side).

Libra & Scorpio

Dearest Scorpio, now you must be feeling very well, as Saturn has left you (kind of) and has moved into Sagittarius. However, you continue to go through some major changes in your life. Perhaps you are moving, graduating, getting a new job, or doing something spectacular. Now you must look your entire life and remember you are not allowed to be in a co-dependent relationship of any kind as it takes from your soul. You will be given a bigger gift in October when Jupiter moves into your sign, according to VPAT. You should start working out as you may gain some weight. When that happens, you can thank your friend Libra, who are reaping the rewards of Jupiter right now and basking in the sun. Not much is happening but they are, most definitely, money oriented now. On top of that, they have so many suitors that they are at the point of “what’s with all the drama?”

Scattered Transformation

Scorpio: Do you feel better now? I did tell you that it is almost over, so how do you like it? Finally, opportunities in areas of employment and career are available to you from everywhere. You are now on the road of success with no more competition or barricades. Concentration on spirituality, appreciation, destiny, happiness, meditation, and travel will be on your mind now. You may even have unpredictable financial growth. However, there is so much chaos in your environment that you might want to get away. There may be even a chance for you to go to a retreat if you’d like. But then you may walk too much or overdo something which may cause pain to the bones in your legs, hips or thighs, so be cautious. This eclipse is also yours, so start digging your groves.

Libra: You have already gone through your eclipse and Jupiter may have changed your direction in Career or viewpoint of life. It is now about contentment, so enjoy the journey of Jupiter until October as intensity, then it will be a slow process of adjustment. Soon you will see many fluctuations, reorganizations, and alterations in your career. You will also come to see who your friends are and who laughs behind your back. You will find your energy is so high that you may have issues with your computers, phones, or any other devices you use to express yourself. Soon financial budgeting will occur which will help in making long term goals. But your edginess may cause some vascular issues and there may be some pain to the legs or lower portion of the feet. Let the drama keep going, you do what you need to do.

Virgo and Pisces

Dearest Virgo, you have now gone through your important eclipses and Jupiter in your sign for a while. Now it’s time to consider what you have put into in your life. It’s time to settle the score and keep those who deserve to be in your life. Perhaps you should learn from your Pisces brother that if they don’t treat you with respect, then they don’t deserve you. So carry on.

Insignificant transformation

Virgo: Now that you have transformed and more is yet to come, it is time to find out who will remain in your life and who must leave. Anyone that does not support you and accept you for who you are must leave. It’s better to have quality over quantity when it comes to friendships. It’s time for you to look at what you teach others as what you learn from others is what will be the test. You may now consider your money, friends, and dreams. Be careful however, don’t become too nervous when you consider these things, otherwise you may do things too fast and possibly hurt your ankles or arms, especially left side. Just say good riddance and thank you for the journey.

Pisces: Neptune is still in Pisces for a little while, do you feel a little dreamy yet? The problem is you may take many things to the extreme, including not getting enough downtime. Soon you may find your employment will go through substantial changes, but not now. Right now, you may be contemplating what makes you happy in what you do for your career, or what you want to do. You may decide to meditate or embark upon some sort of a spiritual aspect in your life; however, when you try something new you cannot go in blindly. Be careful, as overdoing things could cause you to get a minor fever, or issues with your hips and thighs. Do things with moderation. Remember, you’re not superman/woman even though there are times that you think you are.

I advise all water signs to go into a solitary mode and inhale. Get ready for the lunar and solar eclipse by being involved in the echoes of your soul. If the pressure is too much then learning, or go to, yoga classes or acquire a tape for manifestation visualization, whatever it takes for you to go into your own spiritual world and RELAX.

For fire signs, you may get some headaches or feel irritable. It is best to exercise and let out some steam as it may be difficult to move past it. Finally, for earth signs, things may get a little muddy; don’t believe everything you hear as it may be driven by emotions.

Also prior to the eclipse, I recommend a spiritual bath, for which the VPAT recipe which are at this time available to members.

This eclipse will bring heaviness for all of us and the light of your own Divine will be the relief and shield. The eclipse will also request that you consider the very core of your being, such as your home, family, and security. The solar eclipse demands you to belligerently make that modification. It is about new initial stages; suddenly old matters need to be resolved and the time to change is here. Respectable people become even more respectable and the inferior people grow worse.

One must take the time to purify the energy and be careful not to make bold moves.

You may also choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle. Think of all applications of psalms and mantras as a gift to the universe, realizing the chosen outcome is contingent upon the value of the goal.

This year, there will be 8 mantras for the eclipse. They will be comprised of four mantras for those who have Cancer anywhere in their chart, and the other four mantras are general mantras for the eclipse.

The mantra for Cancers and all those that have Cancer anywhere in their chart. I recommend any of these be recited for the next 6 months to bring positive energy.
