Full Moon in Leo

Observe! Embrace the darkness! As the skies become murky and our ideas are distorted, we must now submit to finales. For many who follow the Vedic Philosophies, this is not a time to begin anything but to get rid of the clutter that no longer serves our purposes. Leo always represents love and kindness and as one door will close, as I have continued to explain in my blog of the moon phases (read here), another one will surely open.

Finally, some restful effect will be present for many people and societies. This moon comes with wisdom and peace. Our relationships with others are changing before our eyes and it always brings positive things. As the “new normal” has brought space between us and others, now more than ever we need the loving energy which this moon brings for us.

The darkness of the moon will surely bring an energy to close our eyes for the moment, and reflect. It will affect all those that were born in the first day of this cycle and all those born August 13 through August 20.

Hence, this is not a normal moon. In 2018 and 2019 there were black moons in Leo; but there will not be another black moon now until 2022. This would be our third new moon i out of four we have this season. While there is no single definition, this moon will be seen as a dark spot in the sky. Depending upon the orb, the Leo moon will be at 26 degrees and the void will be evident at 10:41pm EST and 7:41 PST on August 18, 2020.

The New Moon permits many of us to look at life from a new prospective and see for ourselves what will have to leave our lives as it no longer fits, so we can be ready for new beginnings. The energy is perfect to look at our options.

This could be as simple as what will make our home more welcoming, or what creative projects will bring us the security we need. It brings forth originality, leadership, and strength to say, “I am what I am”.

The New Moon supports all plans that have to do with projects, appearance, and wishes. Even if there is discontent, there will be nothing to stop us from considering options. Music, art, and creativity in the home will bring forth originality and creativity.

With all the grace this moon could possibly bring for us, there is always the question if we can/could or should avoid repeating the past. Like every single moon phase this year, this moon is no different as it is the exact replication of the moon in 2001, time, date and hour. But there were also similar new moons which were so close to this one we could consider them twins, like the ones in August of 2009 and 2012. However, it is certain that something that was begun in 2006 and 2014 was done with blinders and now it will surely come to an end.

Of course, as we are at the end of summer, I must mention that in 2001 there were more shark attacks than ever. Then again, from land or sea, there is an understanding that citizens must be protected by foreign powers or things that jeopardize our security.

It was reported and corroborated that President Bush was given a warning in first two weeks of August that there could be an attack from Al Qaeda. The attack would be historical. The government ignored it. In the meantime, 36 coal miners died in an explosion in the Ukraine and China reported AIDS an epidemic. Here at home, Ford cut jobs and the Fed cut interest rates again. The economic recession begins dipping in March and it continues to decline until November 2001. In August there was no progress. This seems to be so familiar as the economy in 2020 begin to decline due to COVID-19 in March and perhaps August may not be any different.

Fast forward to 2009, the U.S economy was still dipping due to the 2008 economic depression, even though there was less job loss in August 2009, and for most of 2009. Nevertheless, something wonderful happened which is like events which occurred this month. In August of 2009, the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice was sworn in; chosen by President Obama. Just this month, former Vice President Biden, chose his running mate, Kamala Harris, the first multi-racial female candidate on a major party ticket.

As the AIDS epidemic soared in 2001, by 2009 scientists decoded the genetic structure for HIV-1 which causes AIDS. On an environmental level in 2001 a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Japan killing over 2000 people. In August 2009, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan again killing over 2700 people. Looking back, I certainly hope that Indonesia and Iran do not have similar scenarios.

The New Moon allows many of us to look at life in a new way and allow the calming effect and wisdom to create new beginnings through letting go. The energy is just right to make the changes that are necessary to liberate ourselves from the baggage and oppression of things that cause us pain and heartache.

The easiest way to begin this process is to get rid of clutter. For example, look at that shirt which will never fit you, it’s really outdated and even at the shoulders it may be collecting dust. There is an old saying that if you have not worn it in 6 months, then do you really think you are going to wear it in the next 6 months? The answer is simple; no. Sometimes holding onto the past is not always good for the soul as we prevent ourselves from moving forward. The heart is allowing your predispositions to indicate the time to make changes and say, “I am what I am”.

The New Moon supports all endings to begin new projects, appearances, and spirits. Even if there is disappointment that the shirt does not fit anymore, there should be none as learning what works and what does not is the key element to the new moon.

A couple of days back, Uranus went retrograde in Taurus, and Mars moved into Aries. Both transits will bring liberation and metamorphism to society. Uranus retrograde pushes us to step into the unknown and familiar alike. Social, individual, and environmental changes will occur and with the mix of Mars in Aries, fumes will rise. I would not be surprised if there is more aggression, violence, and fiery situations that occur.

It could be especially so for those in India, North & South Korea, Ukraine, and some countries near Ukraine. But in the U.S., New York (especially Manhattan), Florida (possibly Miami), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) and California (Los Angeles) could all feel the effects. However, I hope that I am wrong.

The Leo energy can sometimes be the basis for one to be more uncontrollable, tenacious, privileged, activated, narcissistic, egocentric, or condescending. The more warmth, sympathy, and support are practiced during the new moon phase, the more idealism will come of it.

Moons come with purpose, allure, and power. This time will be susceptible by affectionate, yearning, and contentment where originality, honesty, and compassion will be lionized. This is the best time to look for close relationships, bring peace to your relationships, or simply walk away without hurting each other.

The Leo energy can sometimes cause us to be more fanatical, persistent, proud, aggravated, egotistical, selfish, or condescending. It’s harder (but not impossible) to make changes or be supple. The more affection, sympathy, and support are practiced during the new moon phase, the more idealism will come of it.

The moon in Leo is Energetic, Brave, Intentional, Brilliant, and Organized AND INCONSISTENT. Therefore, for Leo’s, my suggestions and predictions are listed below for now until December, I would also suggest adding predictions of the Lunar Eclipse and Solar Eclipse of June, as well as July, to get an overall picture of what you could expect.

Outside of Leo energy, I would suggest the same combination of Lunar and Solar Eclipse of June and July. Please note that all predictions and advice is based on VPAT (Vedic Philosophical Ayurvedic Theories) calculations and not to be mistaken for pure Western or Eastern Astrological philosophies.

Leo

Sweet Leo, this is not the time to change jobs or a career; try to wait until September to do so. If you decide to go into your own business, be wise and careful of investments as profits may not equal the investment. There could be a possible raise or improvement in your career advancement naturally between now and December, however, be prepared that it will come with many responsibilities. New relationships or existing ones will get a boost next month. Try to be transparent in your relationships and spend quality time at or being in a spiritual environment. Remember, if there are difficulties in a relationship this will pass, let time heal them; give it a month at least. For now, be miserly with your finances as I stated earlier, you will see the boost next month.

Saturn (will change signs next month so this incorporates both): The right career path will be shown to you. Have focus on your health and don’t invest; give things time.

Ketu (will move from Sagittarius to Scorpio next month – for your transits from January until August you may look at your full moon scope here. This incorporates the remainder of the year.): There may be plenty of confusion and misunderstandings in relationships. Maintain your budget and keep away from misunderstandings.

Rahu (will move from Gemini to Taurus next month. For your transits from January until August you may look at your full moon Scope here. This incorporates the remainder of the year.): New business, promotion, and financial rewards are possible. Try not to become a workaholic so you are able to balance between your personal and professional life. Your decisions may seem blurred at times.

Uranus: Now you get to look at what changes you have made since March. You will have that boost of energy to focus on your career and what you bring to society. If the energy of communication and information has been lethargic, it may continue for the rest of the year.

Jupiter: Hard work will pay off. You will have plenty of support from management and those who admire you. Be careful with minor health issues. Try to keep conversation light. Your financial situation will be better.

Maharani’s Advice

Sweet Leo, I know you want to take care of your family and this means a lucrative job or career. You will have that, but you must take care of yourself and eat right as it will be better for you physically and mentally if you do so. Spend quality time with our loved ones; laugh, cry, and share and it will bond you more than ever. Show respect and love to all your near and dear ones, and most of all, do not make quick decisions without thinking things through. Do what you can to find a solution and try not to be a baby; you know you hate those that whine so don’t do it. If you decide to go back to school this is the perfect time as you will do well. I would not be surprised if there is a physical move of some sort and finances flow naturally, so don’t worry, be happy.

It is my suggestion that all those that have Leo in their charts purchase a green candle and carve your name through to the wick. Anoint the candle with lemon oil or Lavender oil and chant Psalm 65. You may also choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle.

Remember that with all applications of psalms and mantras, reaching the desired result is contingent on upon the value of determination. Never pray for someone, but pray for peace for everyone so that the person in your focus also receives the same without being selfish.

This year I have chosen one very simple mantra for those who are just learning to pronounce the mantras – the “Easy”. The mantra for the black moon and new moon in Leo is:

This mantra will bring light and deliverance to your life with all the might and power of the universe.
