As we look forward to 2019 with optimism and grandeur, the universe wants to make sure we are awake and alert. This year will be full of hard work and major transformations (read more here). Hence, the first instance of the transformation will be our first eclipse in Capricorn/Sagittarius of 2019. I had discussed this eclipse more in depth in my predictive blog of 2019 (Read more here)
According to VPAT (Vedic Philosophical Ayurvedic Theories), an eclipse is often referred to as negative impacted energy. This description is related to the old scriptures; wherever the eclipse falls (viewed) will be the area of most negative impact.
On January 5, 2019, the new moon in Capricorn will void the skies at approximately 4:05 pm at 15 degrees. As our skies begin to become darker, the Partial Solar Eclipse will be underway on other side of the world at 8:24pm EST. Trust me when I say each one of us will feel it, even if it’s not within our visibility. This eclipse will only be visible in east Asia (China, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan) as well as upper Russia, some parts of Alaska, and smaller outer islands in the U.S.
According to the prehistoric literature, the word January was implemented by the Romans to suggest the God Janus who had two words which signified beginnings and endings, as well as the past and the vision. This will be appreciated during the eclipse energy to set the stage to let go of the old and welcome the new. Remember what I’ve said in the “past”, this is a perfect replication of an end to something that occurred in July of 2009. For those who keep a journal (I recommend this for all my clients) go back to something that ended in July 2009, this is the opener to make fresh beginnings.
The eclipse is in the 15 degrees of Capricorn, people with Capricorn as Cardinal signs (Libra, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn), including those that have Capricorn in their chart, are more likely to be affected. Under this eclipse, people will want to turn their feelings into impartial experiences. Before anything else, there must be accomplishment or some form of instant physical gratification before feeling content.
Solar energy is peripheral, distrustful, defensive, and active; it is echoed and expressed from within our life force. This eclipse provides us the robustness to look at how we are using our possessions and properties and how these belongings or resources affect how we handle our everyday lives. Furthermore, it also gives us influence to come up with a strategy to trust how we live daily. This eclipse will also permit us to gaze at our lives to see where our strategies are and to question their sustainability, whether they are unwavering to serve everyone around or if they need to be re-mapped.
Eclipses always focus on revolution and are mostly in the physical world established through our spiritual world. Solar eclipse with a new moon forces us to jump start something pioneering, to pledge ourselves to negotiation. It also allows us to be discriminating with events which come through exploration, choices, energy; taking ourselves to a higher level. But our worries will be maximized due to the burden of revolution which will be on a predicament mode.
During the Surya Grahan (Solar Eclipse), it is advised not to put any plan into action or start anything new, even if new moon represents a new beginning for some. Unlike the Western ideology, new moons are NOT auspicious for VPAT. It is also advised that there is no cooling off period of for 3 hours. This means no hygiene regimens either. Instead, it is advised to recite mantras, burn sage the home, and make donations to a temple or church after the eclipse has passed.
The eclipse will assuredly bring penetrating energy and strain. It will question what is realistic and what is needed to avoid the detriment of love, relationships, and those things that we treasure. It will bring awareness of philosophies and the way we relay them to our existence. Also, to question ourselves whether we are being fair and honest to ourselves. More importantly though, if we are being truthful to people around us, as trust must be mutual. Through this consciousness, understanding of past pain, and contemplation, we will be given the thoughtfulness of forgiveness and healing. There will be some reason why old relationships that are not beneficial will die. If any relationship is poisonous or not settled it will also die and the eclipse will give you the truth, even if it hurts.
Currently, Mercury and Jupiter are still in Scorpio, Venus and Saturn in Sagittarius, Mars in Pisces, Rahu in Cancer, and Ketu in Capricorn. These placements could cause communication to remain a bit manipulative surrounding money or power. Difficult lessons in love could also remain. Men or authority figures could potentially be a bit emotional while others are looking at their lives and what they can change, the rest are paying back their karma from their past actions.
Look back at July of 2009, but more importantly, December 25, 2000. The eclipse was at 14 degrees whereas this eclipse is at 15 degrees. Keep in mind that no eclipse brings good results as far as Vedic philosophies are concerned, especially when a new moon is involved. Additionally, this influence was just as powerful as occurred on January 1, 1992 and Jan 1, 1973. Perhaps you may not have been born or cannot recall, but it is something that is repeating itself. If you are looking for a similar energy, look to January 4, 2009.
Usually when the solar eclipse is involved with a new moon the placement of the eclipses is dominate to the sign in which it falls, in this case it is Sagittarius / Capricorn. Both signs will be mostly affected by this eclipse. Major changes will occur for those that have placement anywhere in their birth chart. These individuals could have issues, or rather, focuses on partnership and spouses, and could find that their significant other is going to have to end something big or something that they were settled into, to begin someone new.
On the other spectrum, anxiety, delays in legal issues, children, misunderstandings with in-laws, and losses of business profits are just the first step to the changes. This energy can be felt as early as December 27, 2018 and extend throughout the next 6 months for those with primary planets in Sagittarius/Capricorn.
When trying to figure out what exactly it will be, go back to the list of dates which were given a couple of paragraphs above and ask yourself the following questions: Are you plan on making grand changes to your life in 2019? Do you like what you are doing as a profession? Where do you want to be months from now? Are your dreams and goals realistic or just a dream? Where do you want to go? Do you have enough resources to make it happen? What kind of job do you want? Is it something you can really do or simply wish to do?
The majority forces will be extravagant for those who have a birthday that falls on January 4 & 18, February 2, March 4, April 3 & 18, May 4, June 4, July 5 & 21, August 6, September 6, October 6 & 22, November 6, and December 5; this, once again, will be a changing pathway for you. Even though the exact degree of the eclipse occurred in 1991 and 1992, there was some re-establishing energy of what is to occur in our lives as it did 1990 through 1992, and 2000 to 2002.
This eclipse also touches the heart of cardinal eclipses that were activated last summer (July 05,2018) It is questioning our emotions related to issues of the collective “us”, also between feminism and masculine, father and mother, and between accountability and sense of fitting.
Though this eclipse is geared toward the cardinal signs, the mutable signs (Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius and Gemini) will not be left out from the part of the solar eclipse. Their introspection will be geared toward questioning their tasks against their autonomy. This may cause many to tap into their restrictions of life to question their skills of whom they are and what they are becoming. This could eventually bring them great contentment and affluence, while bringing into their lives people whom could impact them to climb in their life in a changed direction. For fixed signs (Leo, Scorpio, Taurus and Aquarius) it will be a gift of the energy of the celestial renovation that will help them appreciate the lessons that the eclipse has brought them.
During this 6-month phase, there are going to be troubled trivialities. However, for many it could even mean a 3 to 3 ½ year manifestation time. In the meantime, it’s a time to place emphasis on concord, taking care of obligations and responsibilities of our own actions, and perception of what is real and what is transparent. But it does not have to be all bad. It can also mean new projects, jobs, and experiences; anything that begins with the word “new” which represents the new moon and solar energy which brings dark and light together.
A few days prior to the new moon, known as the DARK MOON, drives are at their deepest receding tide in preparation for the new cycle to start. Each New Moon indicates the fortuitous opportunity to begin a new cycle in your life. Contingent on the essential eminence of the sign in which the New Moon falls, drives different levels which can be delicate, primarily spiritual, physical, mental, or emotional. The modality of the sign regulates whether the emphasis is on consecutiveness, power, or adaptability. This solar eclipse will bring out portions of healing, compassion, emotions, expressed needs, subconsciousness, and reservation or the quiet side of you.
The Simple New Moon brings a time of power and “up-and-coming”. It is a stage of distinct climax, but also a time to seek for the unfathomable association in what you’ve shaped. How can you assimilate your spirit into the world for the greater good of all? The new moon signals a time of manifestation. There is a craving to take accomplishment and begin something new, be it simply a slight alteration. This is the time to function from your spirit and faith in the process; take risk by the hand, feel the truth and don’t afraid that it will go bad or good.
What do you want to form in your life? What dream do you wish to manifest? The new moon begins a new cycle. It is the seed of the foundation for a new lunar cycle.
The New Moon is asking us to establish what our desires are, conferring to the prospects available through this moon in Capricorn. The moon urges you to choose and value the association of the “other” – other people, thoughts, and other principles. Relationships are of great importance currently, and you feel a need to dispense, to combine, and partner, whether lovingly or through other channels.
You are called upon now to work toward realizing symmetry – the balance of your inner life and outer personality, the balance of your necessity to take with your capability to offer, constancy of your definitive principles with what is possible in the world. Capricorn Moon sets us straight up the mountainside toward our highest goals.
Due to the intensity of the eclipse in Capricorn/Sagittarius these are primary signs that will be affected the most. This is not based upon astrology rather characteristics which are amplified by VPAT.
Capricorn Advise
January to March 2019
Dearest Capricorn, this is one of the most intense eclipses which will change your perception of your life. The summer eclipse will open your eyes, but right now the universe is forcing your eyes open. With Pluto in your sign, it makes it remarkably difficult for you to switch on and off. This transition is forcing you to give up things that are not true to your nature. It is ok to be scared but remember, at the end of the day there is a light at the end of the tunnel. With the Rahu and Ketu transit, it has been a long tough road for you and I promise by this spring it will end. You will now begin to see the light and staying busy in your work life will keep you occupied, but it is also vital that you spend quality time with family and friends. You may be very busy or even traveling, but soon, if you don’t slow down it will take a toll on your health. But one of the best things that could happen to you is that you will now take a deeper look into a spiritual frame of mind and your entire approach to life will change. The first couple of months you may come down with a minor cold due to exhaustion. Your finances are a bit of a roller coaster to but once you get past the 2nd eclipse January 21, 2019, you will see that you are ready to exhale.
Sagittarius
January to April 2019
Sweet Sagittarius, with Saturn and Jupiter in sign you are probably feeling as though you are being pulled in two different directions. Believe or not, with Saturn it’s not so bad for you, rather it may be even a little advantageous for your as your finances, confidence, pride, and valor gets a boost from the universe. But watch your temper with the people whom you care for, otherwise you will be open to ridicule and insults. Your need to work hard may cause you to get ill, its OK to take breaks every now and then, and you know you love to travel so do so. Make sure you exercise and remain physically active. After March you will see a great boost in everything as you are almost done with your most intense transit in Saturn(shani). This will be a time for deep thinking, especially about wanting to go to college, your family, and where you are. The beginning of the year is all about work, relationships, and perhaps you are planning a vacation. You are also very spiritual which will also be a subject of your inspiration. Keep your mind clean, clear, and tension free, otherwise you will have stomach issues.
Because the moon in Capricorn harvests energy, characteristics which are applied may be restraint, observation, reservation, stability, reliability, unbending, systematic, genuine, and capricious. As its properties are sharp as a solar eclipse, you may choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle.
Remember that with all applications of psalms and mantras achieving the preferred result is dependent upon the eminence of purpose, and when it comes to finding fulfilling relationships and accomplishment, it is of the greatest importance to begin with an apparent understanding of what the aim should be.
Remember the 12 objectives. The intention of these mantras is to guard, protect, and fulfill needs. It is my suggestion that you purchase a green candle and recite Psalm 117 if you find the mantras too difficult. I suggest you purchase a white or a gray candle and annotate it with Lilac, Sage or Cedar wood essential oil.
Additionally, The mantras can be hard to pronounce for many but are a powerful source of energy. This year I am going to revert back to three mantras which are labeled as easy, difficult, and advanced. This solar eclipse mantra is to be recited every day until July’s lunar eclipse

Always have journal around for things that happen, both negative and positive, so that you can understand the energy of the future. Since everything in this world makes a circle to question and to see if you passed the test without narcissistic purposes through the test of the eclipse and celestial energies, we can understand what the universe’s intentions are of us. We are creatures of habit and habits are meant to be broken through change, acceptance, understanding, compassion, forgiveness, and love.
