April 11, 2017
On April 11, 2017, we will have a full moon transiting in Aires/Libra at 22 degrees. The full radiance can be seen around 2:08 am EST and 11:08 pm PST. However, this is a very auspicious day. Not only is it a full moon, but for many Hindu practitioners it is also “Hanuman Jayanti”. I will explain more about this magnificent day a little later.
According to the ancient astronomers, depending upon which region you reside in, the April full moon names were unique due to the culture. The first full moon in April is usually referred to as a Pink moon, or the Grass Moon. Often the mention of the Pink moon is due to the shade of herb moss that resembles dusty pink during the full moon light. While Green moon represents the robust color of the grass during the spring season bringing that life back to grass on the ground
It has been theorized that full moons disturb our opinions of people and frequently make us short-tempered. The methodical facts show that the density of the water current against the moon is the basis of numerous intermittent behaviors in people. Water is attracted towards the moon when the moon is full which intensifies the pressure of water retention and hermitages around the world including people, places and things.
As human beings, we are deep-thinking and our thoughts will be a bit slanted on the full moon night; just as the moon’s gravitational pull affects the ocean’s tides, so too will it pull us from one direction to another. The full moon may cause unexpected behavior and elicit wrath, premature labor, and bleeding.
Some people may not feel the effects of this moon, but it depends on several aspects. Primarily affected are those that have many planets in water and they could find this full moon to cause headaches, fatigue and possible sickness 5-7 days before and after the full moon. Additionally, if there is water and Libra in the chart it is a double whammy. Nonetheless, everything becomes flawless and more focused under the light of the Full Moon – desire and self-esteem can become quite exaggerated, and we may have more cognizance of, and a spotlight on, relationships. There is a good chance of getting a surge of energy from the light of the Moon and have more luminous dreams.
However, daydreaming and taking those dreams to the next level, may be a little bit more difficult this spring. According to Vedic Philosophical Ayurvedic Theories, there are four planets in retrograde, some of which have already been retrograding. Please note that these theories are a unique style of philosophies and neither Western, nor Vedic Astrology’s have the same idea.
VPAT (Vedic Philosophical Ayurvedic Theory) states that the first magnificent planet to go retrograde is Jupiter which is currently sitting in Virgo; thus, by association, it is affecting all earth signs (Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo). It will remain retrograde (1/28/2017) until June 29, 2017, which could cause money, luck, and financial progression to be a slower for those that have planets in those that were mentioned above. (Read more about it here).
The second outstanding planet that is always is misunderstood but is a teacher of karma is Saturn. VPAT positioned Saturn to be in Scorpio until January 15 and moving into Sagittarius on the 16th where it went retrograde and will remain retrograde until April 16, 2017. Saturn is about the importance of diligence through grief. People who are modest, honest, having faith in God face few problems as they are the benefactor of Saturn. Saturn will remain in Sagittarius from April 16 through June 06, 2017 when it goes back into Scorpio once again. There are numbers of people affected by this retrograde thus proving important for all. (Read about Saturn in Scorpio here) and (Saturn in Sagittarius here).
Third is our wonderful trickster, Mercury, who comes knocking at our door three times a year and is the most hated planet. However, he should be the most loved planet as he brings to us a time to reconsider all things in our lives to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes. VPAT considered his opening and transiting retrograde to be on March 23 and will continue in his path until May 21-23, 2017. The most effected signs will be Taurus (all earth signs Capricorn, Virgo), Mutable signs (Pisces and Gemini) and all those that have earth and mutable signs anywhere in their charts. Read about it here
Lastly, five days after the full moon and around the time of the eclipse, Pluto, the most misunderstood planet but the most powerful, makes its move. The retrograde will begin on April 15, 2017 and it will continue until the first week of September. Pluto generally retrogrades only once a year and is about rebirth and regeneration. But remember, the universe places this in our lives to give us the willpower to let go and eliminate. If you don’t let go, the events in your life will force the issue.
With all these planets retrograding, the full moon push and pull, the power of prayer, and Hanuman Jayanti will be the most welcoming spiritual phase. Hanuman Jayanti is celebration of the birth of Hanuman who was a faithful devotee of Lord Rama. But he too had supernatural powers and helped save Lord Rama’s wife Sita from evil Ramayan. His devotion was so strong that he could move mountains and clouds through his faith.
Many Hindu devotees celebrate this day differently; however, in Gujarat they fast the entire day. They go to Hanuman or Lord Rama’s temples by the hundreds and pray. It has been told in the scriptures that he was born at sunrise; therefore, most people begin worshiping at sunrise after a holy bath. Puja and Prasad is usually performed and ancient traditions state that people who worship him symbolize him as a devotion of strength, energy, and devotion. Hanuman is also known as the 11th avatar of Lord Shiva.
All relationships are about devotion and strength, and Shiva always represents a male and female energy thus the placement of the full moon is perfect. This moon is positioned to convey light on relationship issues; the sun in Aries will bring opposition in everyone. It’s an echo of one’s self in others’ lives and whatever that is put out there will come back, whether good or bad; therefore, being the best you can be will be the optimal way to go. Focusing on the needs of others will defiantly bring brownie points during this full moon emphasis.
Libra Moon values peaceful relationships. Appeasing people that are close and encouraging people to look after others with kindness and enjoyable manner with music and beautiful things. Libra Moon needs close friendship, company, or marriage to feel cherished and safe. A need for peace, harmony, and enjoyable surroundings is a must. In emotional situations, the Libra Moon tends to act very realistically and endeavors to make fair decisions. People will have strong compassion to, and attraction for, others. This comes from the Libras search for harmony and balance, for the Libra nature accentuates teamwork.
Since moon in Libra represents Amiable, Beautiful, and Comfortable, Open-minded, and Loving, it is my suggestion for us to remain balanced. This full moon is extraordinary to many signs. It is my suggestion that you purchase a yellow candle and carve your name through to the wick. Anoint the candle with lavender oil or peppermint oil and chant the Psalm 26.
You may also choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle.
Remember that with all applications of psalms and mantras achieving the desired result is dependent upon the quality of intention. When it comes to finding satisfying relationships, it is of the greatest importance to begin with a clear understanding of what your goal should be. The mantras can be hard to pronounce for many but are a powerful source of energy. For this year, I have chosen two mantras for Libra moon:
Om Hreeng Kleeng Shreeng
(oooom Hriiiinnng Kliiiing shhhhhriiing)
Om Tatva Niranjanaya Tarakramaya Namah
This mantra produces the excellence of friendship.
Remember to cross out the old affirmations, even if there is only the slightest change, and create new ones. The perfect number for aspiration is 10. This means to list 10 aspirations and recite them every night until the next moon cycle. Remember, never make the affirmations begin with “I balance”, they must be worded “I need balance in my life with friendship and love.”
This blog focuses on tendencies which may not individually relate to a person’s chart, rather it is a stepping stone for the tendencies of our environment. To find out how this full moon will affect you astrologically, it is advisable to set up a time with a recommended astrological advisor, Lee Stillwater or Leslie Hale.
A Vedic reading embraces a variable destiny and the forks that lay ahead for Karmic changes. It also embraces how our own wiliness to beautify and make changes allows prosperity and happiness in our lives. A Vedic reading is a pathway to changes and acceptable things in our lives whereas Astrology brings a foundation of the path. Together they bring a symphony of cohesion bringing peaceful resolutions.
Wishing you a harmonious full moon.
