Full Moon in Capricorn
July 19, 2016

We have just passed the mid-point of 2016. Waves of world news, politics, and equal rights have plastered the headlines. It appears that every time we find our relaxing point something shocking always seems to happen. Many people will blame planets for the upheaval; I always look at history.
The beautiful full moon is unique many ways and is named after the thunder in the skies in July if one resides in the northern hemisphere. As new things begin to blossom in the southern hemisphere it is named as an old moon. However, the most significant part of the full moon is that we are 29 days away from our first fall eclipse and 10 days away from our last Mercury retrograde of the year. Therefore, there will be a whole lot of shaking going on. We still have more revelation and more headline news coming our way.
The Capricorn-Cancer full moon will light up the sky with its grace at 28 degrees at approximately at 6:57 pm EST and 3:57 PST, depending upon the orb. This moon will affect all those that have Capricorn anywhere in their chart as well as all earth signs (Capricorn, Virgo, and Taurus). additionally, late Cancers born July 17 through July 21 will feel the effects.
The last time the moon was very close to this degree was in 2008. The orb climaxed to 26 degree. For those who have been analyzing my blogs there is a major trend this year which is that, most if not all of planetary transformations are related to 2008. Let’s rewind a bit. Beginning of 2008, New Hampshire legalized same sex couples civil unions. Natural disasters killed several due to heavy rain and flooding. Riots, political strikes killed hundreds of people abroad and in the United States. Perhaps the scenarios are not exactly the same but circumstances seem similar. Is there a higher calling this? Perhaps? Perhaps not, only time will give us the answer.
Earthy Full Moon conveys a period of wisdom and developing. It is an epoch of individual gratification, but also a time to quest for the abysmal connotation in what you’ve generated. How can one assimilate a dream into the world for the greater good of all?
For Hindu practioners all over the world, no matter what region you come from traditionally, it is called Guru Purnima. However, most Gujarati Brahmins call it Vyas Purnima. This day is for thanksgiving and remembrance of Guru Ved Vyas who deciphered and wrote the eighteen Purnas and the Mahabarata. Many refer to a Guru as a teacher, spiritual healer, a remover of darkness, a priest. Many fast and celebrate the blessings of their Guru. It is the thanksgiving of all the wonderful teachings that has been passed on to them.
This full moon urges us to distinguish and honor the importance of the “other” – other people, ideas, and values. Relationships are of abundant significance at this time; the need to belong, join, and partner romantically or through other channels. It is all about working to reach stability between the balance of internal nature and exterior persona. Understanding how to give and how to get one’s needs met with what is possible in the world of the Capricorn Moon. Head straight up the mountainside toward our highest goals; Dig in those hooves and get climbing! But make sure that you have strong boots and enjoy the freedom for the next 10 days.
As we slowly approach the end of the month, our last Mercury retrograde of the year will surely dampen the fun for many in the fall. In my blog of December 2015, I stated that this is the year for Earth signs to slow down, Fire signs to transform, Air Signs to learn, and Water Signs to exhale read more about it here. Mercury retrograde will begin in the sign of Leo and will not complete its journey until it reaches the early sign of Libra which will occur around the first to second week of October. So enjoy this while you can earth signs, as the eclipses and this full moon will surely bring changes for you.
But remember what I said, you must decide what you wish to follow. According to Western ideology the lucky planet Jupiter will enter Libra in September. However, in the Vedic philosophies Jupiter (Guru) will be entering Virgo in August 2016 (read about it here). So better times are ahead for earth signs – lucky you!
Go ahead and tackle anything. Love seriously, too. Seek politeness and self-respect in all things – thus you may be one who does express emotion. There is a need to be very serious watching what you say and do while actually preferring to be with people who are self-controlled and truthful. Tendencies of being ambitious, practical, and a good leader are par for this full moon. These tendencies are especially seen through fostering others by encouraging them. It may also be possible that these traits may have been picked up by a motherly figure whom is highly respected.
With the moon in Capricorn, the throb of Saturn is highlighted. It is time for factual determination and a consciousness of effort and responsibility. In the pursuit for strengthening economic safety, many people could become selfish and oblivious, or even cruelly cold, but it is out of necessity rather than hatred.
However, being that Saturn is one month away from going direct, many Sagittarius’, as well as those that may have Sagittarius in their chart (including some fire signs), may often suppress feeling lonely. As I have pointed out in many times, Saturn is a planet of difficult lessons but it is also a time when many people have to deal with their own karma. Therefore, when planets are retrograde it is like living in a vacuum. Saturn is about recognizing what is not working and coming to terms with the fact we can’t help everyone. Sometimes, however, Saturn can bring many wonderful things too.
Saturn can bring marriages, birth of a child, a new home, relocation, graduation, new careers, healing old wounds, and reunification of families. Hence, a friend of mine once told me no matter what planets do, it’s all in the attitude. Not to have all Sagittarius’ worry but if I tell you that in Vedic philosophies Saturn is transiting in Scorpio would you believe me? Apparently the Saturn transit is still going on for Scorpios and will be until October 2017. This is why I stated 5 to 7.5 years because the impact of Saturn may have a gestation of about 2.5 years after, which means that at the end of the day the universe will bring a beautiful gift.
On the topic of gifts; twenty-five years ago, on July 19, the universe graced me with my first born. The little boy looked at me with his beautiful green eyes and great big smile and he could not wait to embrace the world. Today, he embraces the world with his voice and soon his baby will come to this world and grace it like Simba in the Lion King. Just the other day, I was having a conversation where I said to him I cant believe that 25 years ago I gave birth to you. He responded to me by saying now I am going to have a baby in Jan/Feb.
The mantras can be hard to pronounce for many but are a powerful source of energy. The mantra for Capricorn moon is:
(OM Sri Shan aish shwarya Namaha)
The intention of this mantra is to guard and protect, and fulfill needs.
It is my suggestion that you purchase a green candle and recite Psalm 117 if you find the mantra too difficult. Make sure you take the time to write down 10 aspirations and recite them every day. Remember to begin them with the words “I can have…”
If you are an Earth Sign (Taurus, Capricorn or Virgo) this will be the last update until the eclipses.
