Transcendent Obscurity: Black Moon 2016

Black Moon

New Moon in Scorpio

October 30/31, 2016

By Maharani Rutan©

The focus of my writing this year was primarily on full moons, eclipses, and major celestial events that I find primarily imperative to the human world view. This year has brought us many of them and though they were predestined in my blog December 2015 (read about them here), it still does not make it easy for many to handle.

However, on October 30, 2016 the new moon is particularly exceptional, thus having no choice but to share in the joyous yet magical event. At approximately, 1:38pm EST and 10:38 am PST pure magic will be on the moon as it will (could) turn pitch black; thus the reason for it to be known as the “Black Moon.”

Scientifically, there has been several theories that try to pinpoint the phenomenon of the black moon but no one has really came up with a proper hypothesis. The first theory is that within each season there are three new moons and when a season’s even number moon arrives, it is represented as a black moon. The second theory pertains to not having a full moon in the month of February and so on. To be honest, I fail to understand why everything has to be scientific. Rather, embracing the cosmos of the blessings is the most beautiful thing.

Perhaps some of us did not know, but October 30, 2016 is the 2nd Black moon. The first Black moon was on September 30, 2016. In September, people in Europe were able to see the void in the sky. I wish I could say a Black moon will be seen by the human eye but it will be pitch dark and if you look at the time this is occurring it means Halloween will be ghostly and dark; just what the ticker treaters wanted, or did they?

While the Catholic Church honors their saints on October 31 known as “All Hallows Eve” now known as Halloween, Hindus will take a different approach, a more joyous and spiritual approach, as they celebrate Diwali which is one of the richest, vibrant holidays of the Hindu culture.

Since I was born and raised in Gujarat until I was 10 years old, I can only elaborate on what I am familiar with and what I have experienced. Like any child in the United States, Christmas appears to be the favorite holiday and Deepawali was always mine.

Diwali has many names: Deepawali, Dipotsavi, and the more famous the festival of lights. Each region and each semi-culture (for example in Christianity there are Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, etc.) in Hinduism celebrates it differently, however the meaning is similar. Diwali is not only a time of celebration; it is a holiday of spirituality as well as a time of family gatherings.

Diwali is the most traditional holiday in Gujarat and this is primarily demonstrated through the way it is celebrated. While the rest of the culture may rejoice for 4 to 5 days, in Gujarat it could go on for 10 days depending upon how deeply involved the family wants to become in the ritual of it.

The Gujarati traditional fashion of Diwali is the festivities which begins with Agyaras, translated as 11th day of the month. This year it will be on 26th of October. Most Gujarati people will do a half-fast (will not eat half a day, eating only at night) and eat only specialty food prepared specifically for that celebration (a lot like the Jewish holiday). The Second day of Diwali is known as Vad Baras. As many know, cattle and cows are precious to many Hindus especially to those that live in the country. Vad is defined as payment or debt. Baras is translated as clearing. Thus, the complete translation is wiping the debts. Therefore, all cattle and cows are worshiped and all businesses stop and clear their ledgers, preparing their new ledgers to mark new entries later in the holiday. But the fun part about this day is also known as Vagh Baras which means tiger; some people dress as and paint themselves tigers and cattle, chasing each other, having fun, and eating together.

Dhanteras, Maharani’s favorite 2nd favorite day, will be celebrated on the 28th by all Hindus. This day is for the worship and honor of Goddess Luxmi whom represents wealth and prosperity; she will also be worshiped every day of the festival from this day forward. On this day every household (especially those that can afford it) will buy precious stones called (Ratna) usually one of a kind gold, silver, diamonds, emeralds, etc. Myth tells us that Luxmi is happy when you spend on Dhanteras and she will bless you all year long. I call it shop till you drop day!

October 29th and 30th are both considered Diwali celebration days; however, on the 29th it is to honor Goddess Kali or Shakti. This day is celebrated to conclude all evil and start fresh with Lord Hanuman protecting humans from evil spirts and negative energy. On the 30th the more significant celebration, which always falls on the new moon, is to worship and honor Goddess Luxmi by doing poja. It is also called the last night of the year (Hindu New Year eve). Many will see Indian homes decorated with colorful lights and drawn designs at their doorsteps to welcome Goddess Luxmi. Fireworks, dancing, singing, eating, and joy is to lure away bad spirits.

The sixth day, November 1, 2016, is called Bestu Varas or Kartak Sud Ekam translated to First day of the new month of the New Year. The fireworks begin at 4am and people from the villages collect sand from dried up ponds. Family and friends visit each other’s homes and exchange gifts and sweets. Thereafter, the holiday becomes more personal and spiritual for the following three days; with poojas, promises, and arti’s, as new beginnings and new promises for the New Year.

As long as I can remember, every time Diwali comes around my mom always says to me, “Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to me!” According to the Vedic Calendar (which was comprised not by date but according to the moon and the stars) my mother and I were both born on the same day (Diwali Day); Same time (during the ceremony when all business books were being blessed known as chopra poojan), same country, same state, same city, same hospital, and the irony is the woman who delivered her had a daughter who, in turn, delivered me in the same room. So yes, it’s a special day. Therefore, it’s a new beginning and a solar return.

A few days prior to the New Moon, known as the DARK MOON, energies are at their lowest points in preparation for the new cycle to commence. Each New Moon indicates an idea to excite new advancement in life. Relying on the dominance of the sign in which the New Moon falls in a personal VPA chart, drives on changeable levels are strong; be they blessed, objective, rational, or imminent. To find out how deeply involved this transformation will be if your focus is on western astrology and not VPA Chart, I would highly suggest you make an appointment with my recommended Astrologers and discuss if this is a signal of new beginnings or endings.

The new moon generally gives indications of opportunity to begin anew and to find the energy and courage to take a gamble. Negative thinking and having people control you will no longer be tolerated. Appreciating those around you, especially groups of people, who have similar backgrounds of spirituality and work will be your biggest virtue. Living in a box is no longer possible for many of you. Freedom, vision, revolution, revolt, and change will be the theme of this new moon.

The Moon in Scorpio marks a time of advanced ambition and desire. People may be feeling more self-confident and more motivating, as well as being moved and material. In general, responses at both ends of the spectrum are penetrating and likely to differ during this effect. Influences on an awful level could be made with members of the opposite sex with the Moon in Scorpio. Represented by the Scorpion, Scorpio relishes a mysterious and influential nature. Feelings of suspicion and retribution may rise; so distinctive restraint is required to evade clashes. The Scorpio Moon can be a component for control urges, which can often result in energy or even damaging urges.

The New Moon signals a period of expression. There is a desire to take conviction and begin something pioneering, be it a small alteration or a whole new path on your journey through this life cycle. The energy is right for making sudden modifications and outwitting your tendencies. This is the time to act from your soul and conviction.

The moon in Scorpio is not only about knowledge of your murkier side but to be accepting of the malicious parts within and clearing emotional state to heal and to help others like us through accepting and rectitude. We must go into our unconscious and find who we are to reach the plane of mysticism. Also it allows us to go inside of ourselves and find out why people do what they do and what is their resolve. Seek the deeper truth and don’t be frightened to change. You will have the prospect to grow again through the fire which we call time.

When the moon is in Scorpio, we become more familiar to buried or perplexing stimuli and our psychic probes may be motivated. This is a time for being occupied with supporting provocative switches, and for intense core obsessional thoughts or hungers. Recognizing behaviors and reactions creates power struggles. This New Moon is most promising for pursuing aid from your heavenly attention and Higher Power to soberly give the sovereignty to eliminate internal negativity. Zealous Influence is the prominence.

For all Scorpios, and those that have any houses in Scorpio, it is the most magical time of the year; it’s the limelight of the Phoenix. It’s time to let go of things that do not fit your requirements, the world is seeing you – discharge the craving and put on a mask that is suitable just for you. Keep steadfastness, drive, and muse. It will get somewhat strange. Remember that it’s all in the strategies used. Decide and understand the psychic powers of the Scorpio, and evoke they are often dreaded or respected; there is nothing in between.

The Moon in Scorpio marks a time of augmented appetite and desire. People may be feeling more powerful and more motivating, as well as being enforced and resourceful. In general, emotions at both ends of the continuum are heightened and likely to vary quite a bit throughout this guidance. Relations on a deep level could be made with members of the opposite sex with the Moon in Scorpio. Represented by the Scorpion, Scorpio enjoys a mysterious and perceptive environment. Feelings of suspicion and revenge may arise; so special caution is needed to avoid clashes.

As the moon in Scorpio characterizes Impetuous, Strong-minded, and Unpredictable, Daring, and vigorous nature, it is my suggestion for us to remain stable.

The New moon is astounding to many signs. It is my suggestion that you purchase a burgundy candle and carve your name through to the wick. Anoint the candle with mogra, and chant the Psalm 39. You may also choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle.

Psalms and mantras are created to invigorate certain aspects of your life, but achieving the wanted outcome is contingent upon the quality of purpose. When it comes to finding nourishing relationships you will need a clear understanding of what your goal should be.

Mantras can be hard to enunciate for many but are an influential source of energy. The mantra for Scorpio moon is:

“Om Aing Kleeng Saug”

(Om aiiing Kleeeeng saa uuuh)

To call to the lord of peace and removal of any obstacles in your way; to keep up in balance from misplacing rage through obscurity and blurred energy.

Please note that I am not an Astrologer, rather, a Vedic Reader. Our foundation is the training to refine into Astrological predispositions, along with Vedic precautionary medicine, so that alteration and fluctuations occur with the apparition of modesty and spiritual inclination rather than forced changes which could sometimes create chaos or the breaking of alliances.

It is a time of festivity, pooja’s, and gratitude. It represents the first day of our lives. It is when we are called to embark on a modification in our lives; to be a little more charitable, merciful, and sympathetic. If you are a Hindu, I really suggest embracing this holiday and wish you the best of Diwali. May Luxmi bless you with all of her splendor.

Autumn magical ire : First Super Moon 2016

Super Full Moon

Full Moon in Aries

Harvest Moon/Rose Moon

October 15/16, 2016

By Maharani Rutan@

As the fall birds chipper in the fall breeze, the weather forecasters are predicting that the colors of the leaves will be majestic due to the extreme heat. The leaves begin to turn orange, and brown, with very little yellow to recall. Even as fall arrives, the season changes are late.

However, the cosmos always has something beautiful and grand for human kind. Embrace! Our first super full moon of 2016; our stunning sky will bring an exceptional delight on October 16, 2016 with full moon in Aries, and super moon. At approximately 12:24am EST and 9:24pm PST October 16, 2016 the moon will move into Aries at 23 degrees.

People will feel the verve of the full moon as early as 5 days before (October 10, 2016); the powerful drive might cause troubled sleep and energy. Never get a reading during this waxing period, or do anything impulsive, as your goal may be a little tilted. To receive the most positive affect of the full moon it’s best to wait out every decision. It would not be shocking that emotions will be all over the place.

Perhaps people will call it a very volatile energy, which can be as fire (fire signs) always brings some unsettled energy with it. But I always say, our willingness to cope comes from our attitude. As disturbing as this may be the last time this type of energy entered our cosmos was one degree off in October 17, 2004.

Let’s rewind as I always like to do, to recall history and pinpoint any lessons we need to learn from this energy. Hurricane Charlie, Jeanne and Frances Hug Florida causing massive damage while residents flee but are unable to run too far. Bush focuses on Florida and healthcare costs concern voters. Many evacuated after a train derails near homes with more and more Americans concerned about travel. Looking at these headlines makes me wonder what we learned from these events which have a lot of similarities to today. What are we going to repeat? But no matter how we handle things in the next few weeks, our children or our children’s children will surely be tested on October 17, 2035.

So, what is so special about this moon beside the fact that it’s the Harvest moon in the northern hemisphere and the pink moon in the southern. Let’s also dismiss that we are about 15 to 16 days from Halloween. Furthermore, the world as we know it will dramatically change in less than 23 days when a new president is elected in the United States. I am sure many of you recall that I predicted the winner of the election as early as December of 2015, and during the spring and fall of 2016. As I always say, history repeats itself otherwise it kills us; we either learn our lessons or die trying.

Hence, I don’t like to make my writing political as this is something I rarely like to touch on. The only law which I try to obey is Dharma, the Universal Law. Nevertheless, the beautiful thing about this moon is that it is the first full super moon of the year. We have already had 3 super new moons which I mentioned in my blog in December of 2015 (read about it here). The first super new moon was during the eclipse on March 9, 2016, the second was on April 7, 2016, and the last was on May 06, 2016. Thus all of our new super moons were in Spring and early Summer. Now our super moons begin in the fall and I am sure you can guess how far they will go.

October’s super full moon is the first this fall. There are two theories behind a super moon; one theory is visually, the closer to the earth is to a moon the larger and super it looks to humans which are known as (perigean). Others say that where there are 4 full moons in a season it becomes a super moon. I personally feel science cannot replace the theory of magic of the universe as everything in the universe is magic in itself.

Besides the super full moon, Hindu holidays have already begun. Navratri already passed and now Dasara has begun. Dasara is a time many Hindus do a half-fast, eating only at night in worship of Goddess Durga through Lord Rama by killing evil Rvana the following day. Goddess Durga also kills Demon Mahinshsur, basically depicting a good vs. evil theme leading its way to Dwali which will be celebrated this year on the Black moon.

The intensity of this moon could be felt as close to October 2013; remember that when fire meets air, fire usually spreads. This Libra-Aries full moon is fundamentally a divergence of two equals. The Libra motto is “I choose what is stable” while Aries has: “I want what I want and I will find power to get it”. Therefore, this moon questions if our live is balanced and what force or determination is needed to get that balance. This moon will affect all early born Aries’ and all Libras.

Those that have Aries in their chart will either end relationships or begin new ones with new plans, but they will certainly be founded on value motives which could cause future conflicts. For Aries it is a time for change, or it is to magnify what is already here. Especially for those that were born Late March, watch your health as you may get sick, ill, or just suffer from exhaustion.

The Hunters moon or rather, blood moon, powers us to consider love entirely differently and ask the question: What is love? Does the love you have live unhindered? Love does not have to be just in the area of relationships, but also our connections with people. It can even be love of work and things you have learned. Additionally, it means to be able to let go of someone or something, no matter how much you love because it needs to be set free. The past years have prompted us that alterations need to happen; that this kind of life is no longer tolerant and peaceful. We will be reminded once again that we can no longer walk in other people’s shadows.

The Aires Full moon brings to us a determination of who we are and who we are becoming. Our resolve of this meaning will be motivated around accommodating, distinguish and bringing out our very best. With it, bring out the best results through objectives and desires being granted by the universal energies. However, one thing it will bring is a path that must be monitored and there is always fury when a person goes against the etiquette of the universe. But if you follow the advice of the universe and the path that the universe is trying to lead you to, then you will follow your spiritual path in connection with the universe bringing with it a Divine light.

This full moon will cause many people to turn out their character; including animals. This type of moon has been known for fierceness, irresponsibility and domestic disputes over things that may or not exist. Because this moon focuses around the totem stages, some of us may become very argumentative in what we say or do.

The distinctiveness of this full moon is at 23 degrees Aries/Libra, which means we are coming to some sort of a decision and it is in the house of relationships, which means that an ultimate determination will be made, either to move forward with any one relationship (i.e. business friends, lovers, family etc.) or its time to end it all together because it may not be fruitful or positive.

There will be many messages from the universe, so listen closely. Libras are also known as a focus of justice through mindfulness and balance which means you should listen to your intuition. Aries is the power which is also known as an awareness of something. Remember, in the spiritual world, the Universe gave the Aries Ram divine strength of will as creator himself.

This moon is a polar opposite of two signs, whereas Libra requires synchronization in every aspect of relationships and Aires can be very reckless. Aries really yearns for contentment and has to be the best at everything while Libra wants to be elite to others.

It is my suggestion that you purchase a white and yellow candle and carve your name through to the wick. Anoint the candle with lavender oil and sandalwood oil, and chant Psalm 39 and Psalm 26.

You may also choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle. Remember that with all solicitations of psalms and mantras attaining the anticipated result is dependent upon the quality of intention. When it comes to finding satisfying relationships, it is of the greatest importance to begin with a clear understanding of what your goal should be. The mantras can be hard to pronounce for many but it is a powerful source of energy the mantra for Aries moon is:

Om Aing Kleeng Sauh

(om aaiiinng Kling Suah)

These mantras are to bring stability across every aspect of your relationships.

Please note, these are general propensities and not specific to any person. I would suggest that you contact an Astrologer for the latest update on how to handle this energy and what to expect.

Additionally, I do not claim to be an Astrologer but as a Vedic reader we must use astrological graphs as our spiritual transformation ground work as utility to give you the most objective path way to a spiritual light which is only handled by the universal powers.

For those who have had a VPA chart done during the fall eclipse, anywhere you see Aries in your chart it is the area where something is ending and something new is beginning.

Wishing you the best of this beautiful full moon.
