Full Moon in Sagittarius
May 21, 2016
With the spring eclipses behind us, it seems like spring never came and we dove right into summer. Within a month we are at the halfway mark of 2016. Even though the year began slowly and many of us were in the melancholy stage, some of us struggled through the retrograde energy and are still doing so.
A bit of a surprise comes with the beautiful full moon on May 21, 2016. This moon will be maximum and full, sitting beautiful and pretty, at 5:15 pm EST & 2:14 pm EST at 1 degree Sagittarius depending upon the orb. The closest to this energy would have been in 2005 when the moon was at 3 degrees orb. However, it was not as splendid or as striking as this moon will be.
Depending upon which definition one follows, a Blue moon has two definitions contingent upon when it happens. If there are two full moons in a month, as there will be in in January and February 2018 and like it was on July 31, 2015, it is rare and it is called a “Once upon a Blue moon” by its unique rareness. Alternatively, instead of 3 moons in a season there are four (resulting in 13 full moons for the year instead of 12) it is also called rare and thus a Blue moon. This full moon falls into the second category and therefore it is called a blue moon. However, the moon is really not blue.
At this time of the year all the flowers are blooming while the cool nights and warm days keep the delight of the flowers blooming. In addition, it’s time to plant and get ready for the season. Therefore, this full moon has also been named the Full Flower Moon. However, this moon also comes with a most auspicious spiritual blessing as it is celebrated through Asia and through the Buddhist community.
In India this is called Buddha Purnima (Birth of Buddha). It is considered a religious holiday and many businesses close for 9 days. If anyone knows the true story of Buddha, they will remember that he was born in India. This is the day he attained his nirvana. In India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan it is celebrated on May 21. However, Buddhists will celebrate it on Vesak Day and it is recognized by the United Nations as May 20, 2015.
The celebration is the most diverse of the Hindu holidays, the Buddhist followers, even those that follow other deities, gather in the Buddhist temple or a monastery which is decorated with beautiful yellow and orange flowers. Flowers and food are offered to visitors and followers to bring peace. All sit together for meditation, along with monks and teachers teaching the Buddha scriptures. The scriptures ask all his followers to understand and make sense in their own mind before they leave the peaceful place. The eight principled journeys that all should have are: to believe, intent, speech, behavior, effort, livelihood, contemplation, and concentration. Once they have completely understood the meaning they shall to have enlightenment.
As graceful as the spiritual journey will be on May 21, 2016, I want you to think forward exactly 29 days from today as we will also have another full moon in Sagittarius (stay tuned for more news regarding this soon).
With such splendor, know that Mercury is not station direct until May 22, 2016. Many will still feel the intensity of retrograde all the way until June 4, 2016. This is especially true for earth signs (Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo) and Mutable signs (Gemini, Pisces, Virgo and Sagittarius). Meditation, being at peace with yourself, and slowing us down may be a way of the universe saying to us “be blessed with all that is around you and breathe deep”. Because nature is absolutely superb and it is all around us, enjoy this serene pause. Read more about it here.
With Mercury and Saturn retrograde and the full moon in early degrees of Sagittarius, all fire signs (by association Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) will be affected by this energy. Let go of your fears; remember, when one door closes another always opens. Appreciate the natural endings and release the anxiety through the truth.
The effect of this moon is an individual illumination and therefore has an individual influence. For the most accurate possibilities of how this moon will affect you, you may contact my suggested astrologers here (here).
During the full moon there is an inclination of being very neutral, absorbed, and really looking at the necessities of yourself and others through a telescopic lens. This full moon supports us in being more plentiful in our own divine values. It also drives our visions and endorses chances. The bigger picture of our lives is seen permitting us to bear witness to the embroidery of our own fundamentals. Though the textile of our lives can be remarkable and sometimes outrageous, there is no doubt it is our own fabric that has created this while being involved with circumstances or people that have brought us desire or discomfort.
At times this Full Moon can bring culmination to important practical or organized progresses, or social changes and reforms. Computers and other hi-tech equipment can be subject to failure and other instabilities. Be on guard against “the unexpected or unusual” around this time. People may present with some rather bizarre actions under this influence while sudden split-ups or partings may occur for some around this time.
The Fiery Sagittarius Moon compels us to express ourselves morally and get right to the heart of the matter. Principals are resilient, small talk is unattainable, and big visions, or egotistical plans, take shape in our minds. Take a little trip… read a book.
While this moon prepares Sagittarians to make their transformation through this moon and the next, and prepares their transition through Saturn, keep in mind all those in association with Sagittarius (such as Leo or Aries) may also be impacted. This is the normal process of wiping the slate clean before Saturn goes direct in August 2016 (Read more about it here).
However, wonderful changes are also happening for Earth signs (Virgo, Capricorn and Taurus), the lucky planet Jupiter has now began to move direct (read about it here), and their luck is now changing. There will now be a slow shift in their career, financial, and business lives. Notice I said “Slow” this is because the famous trickster Mercury is still a little bothersome to many and will continue to knock on their doors until June 4, 2016 when it is completely direct (read more about it here). Thus, if you are looking for your money to get better, your business to pick up, or those prospective employers to phone, they are going to phone and I would not be surprised that something awesome happens by the end of May or beginning of June for Earth signs. What a sign of relief.
The Moon in Sagittarius brings a time of investigation, pursuit, and spontaneity. People may feel bolder, amicable, and fun loving. It is a good time for exploring happiness and philosophies, as well as supplementing the mind. Like the Archer that represents Sagittarius, people may have a tendency toward seeking out truth and higher consequences, following intuition, as well as flights of fancy.
While the longing for independence will be spirited, people may want to do what they want, when they want, and be impulsive or progressive. These biases can cause irritation and a strong need for freedom.
The moon in Sagittarius is very faithful with her feelings. She is smart and ethical in thoughtful situations; considering others with admiration, empathy, and a sense of humor. She believes in telling it like it is, even if the truth hurts. Sagittarius Moon needs for others to be truthful with her as well. She is deeply injured by deceit. She has a talent for coaching others, and yet a fervent student. Every emotional incident is an opportunity for her to engage and help others with the information she has expanded upon.
The moon in Sagittarius is Frank, Forthright, Vigorous, Passionate, and Cautious. With all this mixed energy we must remain balanced. It is my recommendation that you purchase an Orange candle and carve your name through to the wick. Anoint the candle with sandalwood oil or Lavender oil and chant the Psalm 17.
You may also choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle. Remember that with all uses of psalms and mantras, accomplishing the anticipated result is reliant on upon the superiority of intention. When it comes to finding satisfying relationships, it is of the greatest importance to begin with a clear understanding of what your goal should be.
The mantras can be hard to pronounce for many but are a powerful source of energy. The mantra for Sagittarius moon is:
(Om Goo rah vey Nahm ah ha)
This mantra begins to awaken and activate the entire chakra. It specifically prepares the chakra to be able to handle the inflow of Jupiter energy that gives chakra its power.
But remember, Mercury retrograde is in full swing right now and it is very intense, and sometimes very confusing, for all of us. Read more about it here. Therefore, I suggest that you continue the Mercury mantra until June 4, 2016.
(om hr-im shr-em kl im bud da ya Na-ma-ha)
For practicing Hindus, and those that have their Padma chakra open, replace the namaha with swaha.
With every moon cycle, remember to cross out the old affirmation even if there is the slightest change and create new ones. The perfect number for aspirations is 10. This means to list 10 aspirations and recite them every night until the next moon cycle. Remember, never make the affirmations begin with “I want”, they must be worded “I need to be guided.”
Many people have asked the question how often they should have a reading done by a psychic or tarot reader. In my opinion, an in depth reading should be done every moon cycle. Since every moon cycle represents a change, it not only affects our external forces but our internal forces as well. Of course, we all have burning questions every now and then and it may be necessary to have a reading done more often, but sometimes we have to let Universe take its course.
Please note that these are general tendencies of the Full Moon and not to be taken as a direct negatives or positives. Always remember, for the most accurate forecast of how the Full Moon will affect you, or even to get a glimpse of 2016, I would suggest you consult with any of the recommended astrologers.
Please note that I am NOT an astrologer nor claim to be one. However, as a Hindu Sanskrit reader, I use these utilities as a threshold for our readings. In the Hindu ideology planets push the power of resistance and our free will takes action. Therefore, anything done through humility and nature will play a great importance in life’s positive outcomes.
Wishing you a fun fulfilled Full Moon
