Full moon in Virgo
February 22, 2016
The Groundhog said on February 02, 2016, it will be an early spring this year. I am amazed that within a month spring will fill our lives with pretty birds and spring love. But perhaps Mother Nature will be kind to us? Maybe…
This is our 2nd full moon and the last full moon until the eclipse. In two weeks it could be a godsend or is this just the beginning? Whatever the case, changes are just beginning. One of the best changes is the painstaking Mercury. Slowly, the ghost period of Mercury is leaving and by the 28th of February there is green light ahead for all of us (read more about it here). Within a 5 day period of time many of us will feel the push and pull of eclipse energy. But for now this moon will definitely bring some closures for many.
February 22, 2016, will be one of those moons that will bring closures along with grace and splendor through the Pisces/Virgo full moon at 3 degrees (depending upon the orb). Often, the moon is full the night before and it will bring some needed light to our dark streets but the actual moon will be at its brightest at 1:20am EST and 10:20pm PST on the 22nd.
There is always this incredible feeling that life is a full circle. Sometimes we go forwards in time, sometimes backwards. Often history has to repeat itself to make sure that we don’t keep repeating the same mistakes over and over. However, I do believe this is a rather karmic moon looking back at exactly 8 years ago on February 22, 2008; there was a full moon in Virgo at the same exact degree in Pisces/Virgo. Something intense may have been happening behind the scenes for some earth signs. Perhaps you did not know at the time and perhaps it was not uncovered until a week or two later but it may have effected your resources or home, and it defiantly transformed you.
Perhaps this full moon will also transform you, good or bad, as long as you take a humble and spiritual path all will work out in your favor. But remember, as I state, sometimes we go backwards and sometimes we go forwards. This means that some of you who are still young will be re-tested in 2035 on the same exact day. However, I am sure you won’t remember by then that I said this today.
Nevertheless, as we move through the frigid winter, the cold weather suits its name correctly. This time the northern hemisphere of this moon is named the Snow moon, however, I don’t feel that it will suit the southern hemisphere so much as it is known as the Grain moon.
The full moon, no matter how great or small, is very auspicious to the Hindu culture as it is also known as Poonam. The day of the full moon is Pournami which is usually considered very peaceful and heavenly. In the Gita (Old Scriptures) it is said that God created full moons for spiritual development. The lunar rays and the solar rays help our souls enforce these important rituals. Additionally, those who help create or write the Vedas (scriptures) by God, to be read by humans, were all born on a full moon and therefore they should be worshiped as such.
Without going into deep proclamations of the stars and zodiacs, each Hindu culture has its own culture within itself. For example, within Christianity, there is Lutheran, Baptist and so on. The one we will be discussing is the one that is familiar to me: the Brahmin portion, and it will mean that the Pooja will be performed on the 21st. Fasting will be on that day and it is called a Magha Purnima.
Satyanarayn Pooja is seeking sanction approvals and blessings from Narayan, the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, who brings truth. This Pooja is recommended to be done in the evening of 21st only because the full moon will be exact on the 22nd. For those who are unaware how powerful these rituals are I would suggest you find the nearest Hindu temple and see and feel it for yourself. The last time I invited a friend to come along to a Purnima she said she was overwhelmed with tears and joy, and when she left the temple she felt at peace. So the feeling could be different for different people.
However, if you are a mutable sign, especially a Virgo or an Earth sign, it may be worthwhile for you to take that religious leap. It won’t hurt. As you will be pretentious by this full moon, as will those that have Virgo in their charts. But Virgo’s will not be the only sign that will feel the jest of this transit. Mutable signs such as Pisces, Sagittarius, and Gemini’s will also feel this transit.
Something to consider for Virgo’s is that this is a test. The lucky planet Jupiter is retrograde right now. It is asking you the question: if I took it all away from you then what would you do? And how would you manage? Will you get upset? Will you balance? Will you do something to make things better? Things will be getting better in your work, money, and projects but you won’t see it now. Right now you must plant the seeds and throw away things that no longer work (read more about Jupiter transit). By the way, if you can recall 2003 – 2004 you may have gone through something similar.
The Full Moon brings a time of luminosity and emergent energy. It is a period of personal achievement, but also a time to examine for the deeper meaning in what you’ve created. How can you integrate your dream into the world for the greater good of all? The Full Moon urges you to recognize and honor the significance of the “other” – other people, other ideas, and other values. Relationships are of great importance at this time and you feel a need to share, to merge, to partner, whether romantically or through other channels. You are called upon now to work toward achieving balance – balance of your inner nature and outer personality, balance of your need to take with your ability to give; balance of your ultimate ideals with what is possible in the world.
The influence of this FULL MOON can be especially complex or demanding for those who were born under a FULL MOON PHASE, as well as for those of the mutable signs. Also, for those whose birth Moon is in Pisces, as well as Virgo, this Full Moon can sometimes signify a decisive time for possible mishaps, injuries, carelessness and the undertaking of rash choices or judgments. During this spectacular time of the radiant and marvelous full moon attaining goals is our first priority.
Separate yourself of all exterior roles, doubts, and unimportant pursuits; dive into the ocean of light saturating all existence. Like a grain of sand that dissolves in the vast sea, release your individual ego into the infinite embrace of divine consciousness. Breathe in light, breathe out light. Feel the cells of your body become luminous and translucent with the all-pervading glow of God. Allow the heavy burdens of the past months to drop away.
The Moon in Virgo brings a time of practicality, analysis, and efficiency. People may feel more industrious and detail-oriented. As a result, this is a good time to complete projects, particularly smaller scale projects that require organization and attention to detail. Due to Virgo’s association with wellbeing, food and fitness may be concerns during this time. Also, people may be shy as they are engrossed in thought and academic pursuits. Because critical thinking is emphasized, caution needs to be taken to avoid being too critical or judgmental.
Virgo is ruled by Mercury, as is Gemini. While the Moon is in Virgo, it is a good time for educational pursuits, and better for those demanding critical details rather than unique creativity. This is a good time for taking care of any matter that requires meticulous attention. People may become shy and retreating with the moon passing through Virgo and will tend to be sensible, fussy, and even excessively serious at times.
You may choose to recite a mantra every morning until the next moon cycle. Remember that with all applications of psalms and mantras, achieving the desired result is dependent upon the quality of intention. When it comes to finding satisfying relationships, it is of the greatest importance to begin with a clear understanding of what your goal should be. The mantras can be hard to pronounce for many but are a powerful source of energy. The mantra for Virgo moon is:
“Om Eim Saraswatiyei Swaha”
(Om I’M Sah-Rah-Swah-Tee-Yei Swah- Ha)
This mantra invokes energy for making plans fruitful and successful. The intention of this mantra is to keep us in balance and from displaying our irritability through obscurity and blurred energy.
Additionally, since Jupiter is retrograde (read more about Jupiter), awaken your Guru to shed a little light and be graceful to you and all your brothers and sisters (earth signs) Dear Virgo. The most auspicious mantra is a simple one to be done when you wake up.
Om Guruve Namaha
(Om Gu-ra vee Nam aha)
Please be cautious to understand that some of this energy can be felt as early as 5 days before the full moon. There can be breakups, misunderstandings, and people can act strangely.
Though I encourage a reading, I advise most of you to wait as the eclipse will change almost every aspect. The total solar eclipse in Pisces will change almost every one of us as each chart has Pisces somewhere in our chart. I talked about it in my introduction to 2016 blog here
May this moon bring you joy, love, and tenderness. Always remember, for every ending there is a new beginning.
